About the Business
Gie it Laldy is an attitude. It means to do something with great enthusiasm, with 100% effort. We are a Glaswegian design and gift company celebrating all that is pure dead brilliant about Scots language and culture.
Our early designs are inspired by our greatly missed Granny (mistress of the Glesga patter) and more recently, our on-going dialogue and interaction with customers, injecting an extra dunt of irreverent wit and topical black humour.
We encourage the celebration of the Scots language, engaging those who do and who don’t necessarily see themselves as Scots speakers - we are essentially ‘Patter Merchants’, designing, printing and producing our products directly from our studio shop in the West End of Glasgow.
Our visual dialogue with Glasgow and Scotland is portrayed on social media utilising Instagram as a platform to explore the city’s urban landscape and culture and through our blog, ‘Things You Mainly See in Scotland’, where we document casual observations of life in Scotland today.
